Our Team

Collectively, GirlSource staff members bring dozens of years’ of commitment and experience to the development of underserved youth. Along with their job responsibilities, each is a worthy role model for the young women who participate in our programs.

Leticia Hernandez
Executive Director
Leticia Hernandez was the former executive director of Making Waves in Marin and Director of Education at Jamestown Community Center in the Mission. The daughter of a Salvadoran immigrant family, Leticia Hernandez was born in Los Angeles and has lived in San Francisco for ten years. A first generation college student, she earned a B.A. in English from Scripps College in 1993. In 1994, she received her M.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently a Ph.D. candidate. She taught courses in Women Studies and Latino literature at the University of Pennsylvania and San Francisco State University. Leticia began fulfilling her commitment to youth empowerment in 1991 as a residence counselor for Upward Bound and has since continued working with youth programs and community based organizations throughout California.  Working in various capacities, she spent nine years working in the Mission District of San Francisco as a teacher and administrator.  Her writing has been published in various literary journals, anthologies, and newspapers, and she has presented her poetry at throughout the country and in El Salvador. In 2007, she was invited to present an essay on Youth Development, Youth Speaks, and the arts for the Ministry of Culture in El Salvador.

Anayvette Martinez
Bound for Success Program Director
Anayvette Martinez, M.A is the current Bound For Success program director at Girlsource. She has dedicated more than 8 years to organizing young women of color in a multitude of genres, and describes herself as a community oriented academic. Anayvette's experiences as a youth organizer, curriculum designer, and academic are reflective of the skills necessary to design, implement and manage a successful program. She works closely with the young women at GirlSource in creating academic and career success plans, providing professional S.A.T prep, and facilitates  a peer college retention program; ensuring all the young women receive the support and guidance needed in pursuing their academic and career goals.

Noelia Sanchez
Technology & Leadership Director
Noelia Sanchez is the Program Director for the Technology and Leadership Program at Girlsource. She has 10 years experience working with web and multimedia technologies.  Along side her career as a Multimedia Designer, Ms. Sanchez has as developed skills as an educator through her work with the Tech Museum, The College of San Mateo, and The Art Institute, San Francisco. Before beginning her work at GirlSource, Ms. Sanchez worked as a consultant providing strategic planning services to non-profits in the areas of website design, web marketing, online fundraising, and donor database management.
